Arizona, a hot state for pimps?
Who would have guessed that Arizona was a Pimp Mecca?
From USA Today’s On Deadline Blog
“Teen prostitutes are traded like cattle and beaten like dogs, don’t keep their money and can be lured into the profession with sweet talk and designer handbags. That warning comes from an unusual source: convicted pimp Antoin Thurman.”
Thurman describes his life and times in a cautionary educational video organized by an Arizona judge, this morning’s Arizona Republic reports. NBC 12 has video of Thuman as well. “Thurman started pimping at age 16,” the story explains, wearing a suit and driving a Cadillac when looking for girls, but later trading one girl “for the title to another pimp’s Escalade.”
Why make this video? The judge involved says the practice is more common than many think in Arizona. Thurman says “pimps from Texas, Nevada and California are coming to Arizona to make money and estimated that as many as 300 pimps are in the Phoenix area.”
