Long Time, No Post
If you are not familiar, a branchial cleft cyst is a birth defect found in the neck or just below the collarbone (clavicle) that may be visible as a pit in the skin, a projection of tissue, or a lump. BAB’s happens to be the kind that resembles a pit in the skin – it actually looks like something has pinched his neck.
The surgery will be Outpatient and will take about an hour to perform, as long as everything goes the way my Dr. thinks it should. He tells me that worst case scenario is that we end up staying over night for observation.
On the other end of the spectrum I learned that my mother has some sort of heart issue. It turns out that the heart murmur she had as a child is back. On top of that she has mitral valve prolapse.
Essentially this is a disorder in which her heart’s mitral valve — which separates the left upper chamber (atrium) from the left lower chamber (ventricle) — billows out and does not close properly.
She goes back for testing on Monday to find out how bad. It could mean heart surgery. I am trying to be strong for her and be her rock. I know in my heart that everything will be ok. It is just hard to wait to hear it from the Dr.
So, again. I apologize for not being on. Things are just really crazy right now.
I appreciate all of your support.
Shannan
