Hooray!! Demolition has begun on our main (guest/public) bathroom. Finally, after 4 years, the turquoise plastic walls have met their maker.
I have to say that today is one of the happiest days of my life with relation to being a home owner. When we moved in 4 years ago the one thing I disliked about our house was that it had these turquoise green “plastic” walls in both the public bathroom and the bathroom in my sons room. I would say the rooms had not been remodeled since the late 70′s judging by the tile we had as well as the 1960′s art deco linoleum we discovered.
Hope you can enjoy these pictures of the room as it sits after day one. I promise to keep you updated as the renovations continue.

Hurray for demolishing ugly bathrooms! When we bought our house, the first thing we did was rip out the only (tiny) full bath. The previous owners had done the room in lovely shades of chocolate brown and beige, but most amazingly, they’d installed a beige fiberglass surround OVER the bathroom’s one window.
We remodeled on the cheap, but additional light fixtures, a glass block window, white and blue tiles and a plain white pedestal sink, tub and toilet went a long way towards brightening the place up.
Congratulations! Someday I’ll tackle the demolition projects I envision for my house. I’ll be sure to send you the pictures 5 years from now when that actually happens!
That’s awesome Shannan. Congrats. I know how hard remodeling can be.
