Just Call Me Anastasia Beaverhousin

If you have small children at home you know how hard it is to get out the way you did before the little bundles of joy entered the world. One man, or should I say one super cool Dad, is out to help all of us parents who spend our nights – after the kiddo’s have gone to bed – wandering aimlessly online.

His solution? TheWeekend BlogHoppers – an online “bar” hop of sorts that connects you with other bloggers who, like you, are looking for some fun (keep it clean!!) after the kids are asleep.
I haven’t had the opportunity to “hop” just yet but I am looking forward to it this weekend. If there is one thing I love about tghe blogosphere it’s all the wonderful friends I’ve made. This Blog Hopping is only going to add to that list! Oh, and Anastasia Beaverhousin??? That’s my drinkin’ name (bonus points if you can name the TV show it’s from!).

A special “shout out” to Phat Mommy for spreading the word!!

Special Valentine’s Day Fun for Kids

Typically when my boys are allowed some computer time you will find them on the PBS Sprouts web site. Being a fan of the site and the programming on TV (they get to watch it at Grandma’s in the morning) I was flattered when a representative from PBS Sprouts contacted me directly about a promotion they are doing for Valentine’s Day.

On February 14th they will be displaying Valentine‘s Day messages from preschoolers across the bottom of the TV screen. Kids (with our help, of course) can send in a special V-Day greeting to their mom, dad, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. That day they will also share a phone number where kids and their parents can call in to the show as it is happening and send a greeting to a loved one.

All of this will happen during The Sunny Side Up Show (which I noticed has a new host – wonder what happened to Kevin?). The show airs from 9am – noon, at least in Cincinnati.

You can find all the details, HERE, on their web site.

While I personally won’t be calling in (I will be at work), I’ll be passing this info. along to my Mom who watches the boys during the day. This sounds like something they’d get a kick out of.

UPDATE:
Kevin is still an active host for the Sunny Side Up Show. The hosts rotate each week and Sean, who’s hosting this week for the first time, happens to be the third new host for Sunny Side Up along with Kelly.

Kids Say the Darnedest Things

The other night SM and I were hanging out in the living room. It was nearing bedtime so I began to tidy up the living room (I am a type -A and have to have things picked up before I go to bed). At one point I ask SM to take something to the kitchen to throw away- a napkin or juice box, etc. He does as requested but within moments of returning to the living room he says to me:

“Mom, did you know that some Moms treat their kids like servants?”

My jaw drops and I about fall to the floor laughing. Is he insinuating that I am making him be my servant? Where does he hear this stuff? It is too much and too funny.

I pause for a moment and then I reply with:

“Really, I heard that some kids treat their Moms like servants. That they make them get them juice and snacks and take them places like soccer.”

Kids say the darnedest things!
