Random Bits..Romance, Pink Eye, Snow Days and more

Saturday night the hubs and I ended up heading downtown for my birthday. We walked around for a while doing some people watching and checking out the people brave (i.e. crazy) enough to ice skate on the square (it was REALLY COLD) before deciding on dinner at McCormick & Schmick’s. Like always, the meal was delicious but what was even better, was the conversation. We drank Mojitos and just talked and talked and even laughed a bit. You know how it is when you’ve been married for a while. You know everything about each other and your conversation usually ends up centering aroud the children. Well this wasn’t the case on Saturday. The conversation flowed and time flew by. It felt like my husband and I had just started dating.

Pink Eye is back. The B-man woke up on Monday with his little eyes all crusted shut. I cleaned them up with some warm water and a wash cloth. When he could finally open his eyes, they were pretty bloodshot. Poor little guy has it 10x worse than his big brother, who just had the red eyes. Just when we thought the Boyer house was getting back to normal.

School is cancelled again!!! They are killing me. I know that it is icy but with all the school closings we’ve had this year the boys are going to still be in school come July. With SM being sick last week and missing three days and now with school being closed for two days due to snow, my fear is that he is going to start NOT wanting to go. That he will start liking these days off and it will change his enthusiasm for school.

Last night a friend of ours and his girlfriend dropped off Christmas presents for the boys. Since December we’d not been able to find a time that worked for us all to get together, and with the anticipation of snow, they wanted to drop off the gifts last night. What is better than the gifts themselves – snow boots and snow shovels- was the way they were delivered. They took the time to create a story surrounding why the gifts were arriving in February (Santa had found them in his workshop… they must have fallen out of his sleigh, etc.) and then wrote a letter to the boys from Mr. and Ms. Claus. It was the cutest thing I’d ever seen. It really meant a lot they they put so much thought and effort in to the gifts, for the boys.

  1. Happy Belated Bday and how awesome that you had a special night w/ the husband. I know what you mean sometimes feeling like there is nothing to talk about, but once you get in the groove it is so nice.

I think the mojitos help. I know a couple glasses of wine gets me going.

  2. Sounds like you had a sweet night out with your husband.

With my daughter off at college, my house is a little to testosterone heavy too.

  3. That is so sweet! And very creative of them.

I love date nights, although they are few and far between. And mojitos — yum!

  4. Oh I’d love a date night! I’m jealous!

  5. No school AND pink eye. At least you guys got presents!!! Everyone loves presents!

  6. Feel your pain with the pinkeye: All 4 of us had it in a 1 month period. It was hell. Learned a great way to put drops into reluctant eyes, though :-)
The Santa story is too cute!!
Glad y’all had a nice evening, dinner out without kids. *sigh* *dream*
    Love the new header!

  7. What an awesome night out!

Pink Eye is the pits, I hope EVERYONE is better soon!

  8. I love date night with the husband! Glad you had a great time! And ugh, pinkeye, we had a round of it too, no fun!

  9. Oh, I am so jealous of Date Night with the hubs!

My parent’s are in town end of the month and we have plans for a date night ourselves!

Sorry about the pink eye. Totally sucks. As do the snow days.

    Happy Valentine’s Day!

  10. Happy belated bday!

And, that is too cute about the Christmas gifts! I bet they loved it!

  11. Happy Birthday! Wonderful that you had such a nice time at dinner! I just love McCormick and Schmick’s. Yum!

Sorry to hear about the pink eye. Poor kid!

The snow days here in Columbus are killing me too. I have a feeling that people in upstate New York…or for crying out loud, even Cleveland…would laugh if they saw what kind of weather causes our schools to close. It wasn’t even that bad!

  12. aw, i hope the pink eye improves!

  13. I’m glad to hear that you were able to get out with your hunny. On the rare occasion that my man and I get to go out, we find it very refreshing to our relationship.

  14. It is tough when they miss a lot of school. Hope things get better soon!!

  15. Was McCormick and Schmick's delicious? My BF is boycotting the CBD, so I have to wait for a girls' night to go. Hope school starts back soon :)

  16. Hope that pick eye gets cleared up soon, I so hate that stuff! I am holding you to dinner at McCormick and Schmicks when I come to your town! Glad you and DH had a good night, I understand that conversational funk in which you speak!
