Conversations with Kids

SM - Mom, I have hair on my legs. Is that weird?
Mom - Nope. It is normal. Everyone has hair on their legs. Look at your arms, you have hair there too.

SM - Hmmmm. Does that mean I am becoming a man?
Mom - Yup. It means you are growing up and becoming a young man.

SM - So does this mean my voice is going to change soon?
Mom- What? Where did you hear that? (laughing a little)

SM - At school. When you become a man your voice changes.
Mom - Well sure. Your voice will change as you grow up, but not too much. You’ll still sound like SM.

SM - Is that when I will be in charge?
Mom - In charge? (I almost fell over)

SM - Yeah, men are in charge.
Mom - No honey. That is just something Mommy lets Daddy think.

It’s our responsibility, afterall. We’re boys’ moms. We need to make sure they get the message LOUD AND CLEAR early on or we’ll be in deep doo-doo!

    Excellent response, btw!
