Tonight I was getting the B-Man ready for bed and found a giant splinter in his foot. It was huge – about 1/3 of an inch long.
I immediately called my mom, otherwise known as the “Splinter Hunter,” and requested her assistance. She instructed me to put him in the tub and that she’d be over in 15 minutes.
After arriving I got the B-Man out of the bathtub and into his PJs. My Mom and I then laid him down on the bed and I began to distract him while she went to work removing the small tree limb from the bottom of his foot.
I have to say that I was really proud of the B-Man tonight. Only three – he remained very calm and collected throughout the removal process, only crying when it was just about over.
I don’t know about you guys but I hate splinters. My success rate for removing them is pretty dismal. If anyone has any tricks they’d care to share so I don’t have to keep calling my Mom, I’d love to hear them.
Ouch, that’s big! My mom was the queen of removing splinters – I always seemed to get them as a child. She would use a steralized needle to help open up the skin. She did it in such a way, I rarely felt any pain. When I need help with things like that, I call her or my sister. It’s nice to have others to get advice and help from!
Wow that is huge!! I hate splinters too.
