Birthday Insanity

This weekend we are celebrating SM’s birthday at a local water park. I have been particularly excited about this birthday as it is the first time that SM has friends of his own to invite. Before this year attendees have always been the children of my friends.

Being that this is the time of year when a lot of families are taking vacations, I wasn’t really sure what the response rate would be. I purchased two, 8 packs of invites and sent them off to friends from school, soccer, and family friends. Before I knew it, and much to my surprise, the RSVPs were flying in. I couldn’t believe it. By the time all the dust had settled we were at 19 kids!!

Is this normal or am I right in thinking that this party is going to be crazy?? How many kids normally attend a birthday party.

The only thing saving me is that the party place is providing “party helpers” who will run the whole show.

The party is this Sunday so any advice you have on managing the insanity is welcomed. Also, what’s the largest number of kids you’ve had at one of your child’s parties? How did it go?

  1. The biggest kid’s bday party was for a friend and I lost count after 15. I believe there was at least 20 or so kids.

Thank goodness it is not at your house and you don’t have to worry about cleanup.

  2. Happy birthday, SM! Love the Speed Racer cake!! Hope the party is a huge success!

  3. All the “outsourced” birthday parties we’ve been to have been on the bigger side. Have fun!

BTW, we’re celebrating my youngest’s birthday party tomorrow with a backyard lunchtime party for 28 (half of whom are under 4)!

  4. So did you survive?

  5. Sounds like it was a lot of fun. We’re having my child’s first birthday, so the kid count will be low (maybe 5-7), but they are just cousins and the like.
