Yesterday I saw something special. SM, without being prompted, expressed his love and concern for his younger brother. It was such a small and simple gesture but it really touched me.
I was chatting with my mother after work and we were all hanging out in her living room. The B-Man was playing with Jack, my Mom’s cat, when all of the sudden Jack decided to give him a little love bite.
This took the B-Man by surprise and he began crying almost immediately. I went to comfort him and was surprised to feel SM’s arms reach around me to give his brother a hug and a kiss. He proceeded to comfort him.
I just sat there smiling. Here SM was showing concern and loving care for his little brother, without being prompted by myself or another grown up.
I commented to SM how proud I was that he was comforting his brother and his response to me was priceless, “Mom, he’s my family. You have to take care of family.”
Kids are amazing.
That is too sweet. Unfortunately my girls are in the fighting more than loving stage but I love it when they look after each other!
That is so sweet! Here’s to hoping that I witness that with my two boys.
Auh. Those moments are great.
Greate post. I especially found it useful where you stated.
