I am just going to assume that the God you are referring to here is a Christian God and since the most important principle of Christianity is the theme of "turning the other cheek" I think many of you are missing the point here. To simply state his belief is one thing, that is something to be proud of, but to encourage in him the idea that the way to stand up for his beliefs is to beat them into others is absurd and down right contradictory. Maybe you should read to him from the bible and explain to him that violence is never a solution to dealing with people who do not believe the way we do. I would take it as an opportunity to explain that different people think and believe different things, and even if we think they are wrong, or ridiculous, or laughable... its not right to fight over it, Just say your piece and walk away. I know I will have to deal with this at some point in my life when one or both of my sons mention that we do not believe in God. These types of situations are always an opportunity to learn and grow!
