A few weeks ago we had the opportunity to stay at Great Wolf Lodge up by Kings Island.  With the weather being so warm lately, we were ready for a little pool time!

Let me just say that Great Wolf Lodge is HUGE (check out the video below). When you first walk the experience begins right away. It actually feels like you are in a giant lodge.

When you sign in you are given wrist bands that essentially do everything. They get you into your room, they allow you to charge things to your account (so no need to carry a wallet) – such as food, activities, etc.  It’s pretty nice, especially since you are going to be spending a majority of your time at the pool!

Before I talk about the pool, I want to talk about the room. Ours was great! We stayed in a Wolf Den Suite. It included bunkbeds for the boys (which they loved) in their own “cave” area.  The rest of the room included a large bed for us, and a sitting area with a sofa that turned into a bed.

After dropping off our luggage we headed straight for the pool. It was amazing.  There literally was something for everyone – from a fun water slide area for the under 5 set, to water slides for grown ups, a lazy river, wave pool and more. We spent about 5 hours there and had a blast.

One thing I want to comment on was the customer service. Being so large, and having so many young employees, I was really surprised at how great everyone was. From the receptionist to the lifegaurds, all were a joy to work with.

In addition to the water park, there are also lots of other things to do. They have Scoops Kids Spa (more for girls…), an arcade, story time in the lobby, and Magic Quest which sends children on a hunt through the building gathering clues. They also have dining options and a gift shop with a starbucks (an essential part of my travels…)

Now, on to pricing.  Great Wolf can be a little pricey. The Wolf Den Suite runs between $200-$300 a night, depending on the time of year you go.  Now, if this is a big family vacation, you might be ok with this. I know my husband and I spent about this much per night for our trip to NYC last year.

Also, everything at Great Wolf is individually priced.  I want to say that our dinner at the buffet restaurant ran about $80 for the four of us.

Now, they do have a lot to do for free. I mean the main attraction being the pool, which is where we spent most of our time. Also, you can order board games to the room and have fun in the evening playing games with your family.

Overall we had a great time at Great Wolf Lodge and would recommend going back. If you stumble upon this  post and have questions, please don’t hesitate to shoot me an email at Shannanb (@) Gmail.com. I’d be happy to answer them.
