A Proud Mommy Moment

Last night something amazing happened – SM successfully tied his shoes for the first time!  That’s right. He did it all by himself.  I’ve never seen him so proud or confident. It was one of those moment’s that parents live for – seeing their children overcome something they’ve been struggling with.

We’ve been working with SM on tying his shoes for a while. We started last year when he was starting kindergarten but it fell to the back burner because his shoes were Sketcher Z Straps and didn’t require tying.

This year I vowed that SM would master shoe tying and made sure to purchase shoes that laced.   We’ve been practicing for a few weeks and he’d been struggling with the part where you pull the lace you’ve wrapped around through the hole. Last night SM and my husband sat down and got out my mother-in-law’s shoelace board (she uses it in physical therapy), determined to master shoe tying.

Being a blogger I of course documented the whole thing.  Check it out – SM even gave me permission to blog about it, lol!
