Christmas is Coming… Where are you shopping?

Suddenly this morning I began to have a Holiday shopping panic attack. Christmas is just around the corner and I have no idea what to get for the boys or for my husband.  I could do the boring thing and hit the mall but this year I want to do something different. I want to shop sites that feature items that are unique and handmade, items that not everyone else on the planet will have.  I’ve dipped my toe in the water and have purchased something from someone on my list from an Etsy Shop (have to be vague, they read this blog) and I want to keep going.

In doing Google searches for great sites I came up with a bunch. Here’s a list of some of the places I’ll be turning for gift ideas and gifts this year.

  • WishPot- Wishpot is a place where people like you and me can create lists of our favorite items to share with others. I’m a Wishpot expert so I am partial but I’d love the site even if I wasn’t!
  • TwitterMoms - TwitterMoms put together a downloadable Holiday catalog filled with great sites featuring products made by bloggers like you and me (well not me. I suck at making stuff).
  • Etsy- I am in love with Etsy. You can find just about everything you want – all hand made. Check out my friend Dawn’s knitting store.
  • 2008 Holiday Mom-preneur Shop-a-thon! - Laurie over at Tip-Junkie has put together an amazing list of sites to shop that are run by Mom-preneurs.

I would love to know where you’re getting your ideas and what shops you’re turning too.  If you have any sites – yours or those of others – that your shopping this Holiday season please leave them in the comments!

Every year I want to take the pledge to Buy Handmade and proudly display that badge on my blog, but every year I end up with something store-bought before the holiday season starts (because it was a ridiculous deal!)

Well, I work at a store, so 100% of my shopping comes from there (I get a discount! Plus, I don’t want to spend my days off in another store! sorry to ruin the surprise, friends and family members, but you’re all getting BOOKS for christmas!)

However, I just discovered http://www.buycincy.com which has lists of locally-owned independent stores.
