If you read my weightloss blog than you know that I’ve been at a stand still with my weight loss – I haven’t lost weight in over a month (not that I’ve been trying hard with the holidays….)! Well… drum roll please…. today is the day I return to the gym and begin training for a 5k.I started contemplating a return to the gym a few weeks ago after receiving a letter from Silverlake (our family – friendly gym) that they would now be allowing members to use their sister gym – Better Bodies – at no additional charge. While I love Silverlake, Better Bodies is closer to our house which means I can sleep in a smidge longer before heading out in the a.m. to work out before work.
My decision to return to the gym has been spurred by my desire to run a 5k this year. A few of my friends turned me on to a program called The Couch-to-5K Running Plan that seems really do-able. The program helps you gradually work up to running three miles with 2 months of gradual training.
In addition to the prospect of successfully running a 5K, I’m also excited because I’m virtually training with Emilie from Mommin it up, Marcy from Stretching a Buck, Laura from Laura’s Carbon Footprint and Loree from Hermits Gone WIld.
I am really looking forward to doing this. Back “in the day” I ran long distance in middle and high school and was actually really good. I really enjoyed running but somehow just stopped as I got older.
If you live in the Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky area and want to “train” with us we’d love to have you. Right now we are looking at races in March to run.
Good for you! I have found that writing about it makes me commit that much more.

Good luck, I have never been a runner I hated it in school, but I am going to check out that link, maybe even I will get inspired!!
You’ll love the couch to 5K program. It’s worked for so many of my friends and I. Definitely keep us informed! It’s the best way to stick with it, for sure.
Also, OMG HI. I totally remember meeting you and was all excited to see you on twitter. YEY!

That is very cool. A couple of my friends have done that program and thought it was great.
Thanks for all the good wishes. I completed my first workout yesterday and it felt great. Was surprised at how easy it was. Maybe I really will be able to run a 5k in March!

I think I read at Cincy Losers that you need to lose 10 more pounds. That’s my goal too – I swear those have to be the hardest to come off!
I think I may try to get in one of those races with you gals! I am hoping to do something in the Pig this year. I gotta get my butt training too!

No WAY! I just started the couch to 5K plan today too!
I started it once before but got very sick — flu or horrid cold or some such — and gave up. But when I did it last year it was so nice to just have a plan and stick to it.
Good luck! And if I was up your way I’d work it with you!

I ran today! Not so bad…although I’m a bit worried about going from treadmill to outside. I’m excited that we’ll all be cheering each other on!
