Intro to Meal Planning

Alright, here we go. My first real menu plan and my first time participating in Organizing Junkie’s Menu Plan Monday. I have to say that I really enjoyed sitting down this morning before going to the grocery store and planning out what I was going to make this week.  I couldn’t believe how much EASIER it made grocery shopping.  Instead of just randomly buying things that “sounded good” I was being strategic!  It was insane.  This week I decided to go the vegetarian route.  Some of these are new recipes for me so I’ll be sure to let you know which worked and which didn’t (hopefully they’ll all be tasty!).

Monday - Fruit Plate (Boys have soccer, I have a late meeting)
Tuesday-Black Beans & Rice: Brown rice, black beans, corn, tomatoes, onion, shallot & avocado
Wednesday- Veggie Wraps: Whole wheat wraps, hummus, gr. pepper, tomato, lettuce, cucumber & avocado
Thursday-  Soup: Diced tomatoes, onions, potatoes, corn, celery, tomato paste and veggie broth
Friday- Date Night – Boys having Grilled Cheese & Veggie Soup, Fruit Cup.
Saturday – Veggie Tacos: Whole wheat tortillas, vegetarian “meat” crumbles, tomato, avocado, lettuce, corn & salsa.
Sunday – Pasta Dish: Whole wheat pasta, garlic, olive oil, walnuts & craisins.

  1. Everything sounds really good. I can’t wait to hear what worked and what didn’t. I really need to menu plan, but I plan and then when it comes time to make it, it doesn’t sound appealing.

  2. Sounds like a great week! Thanks for all of the vegetarian options. I’d like to do one meatless meal per week but was short on ideas. Have a great week! :-)

  4. yum yum sweets!
    Those all sound yummy.

  5. Meat crumbles? What are those? I am going to have to google that one. Otherwise sounds great. Can’t imagine a week without meat. My husband would die, lol.

  6. Good job!

I never go to the store without a list. Srsly. If it isn’t on the list we don’t get it. Not cool when you forget to put something on the list.

Headless Mom´s last blog post… Football! (Like we haven’t had enough of it this season.)

  7. That looks great. Nice to see a veggie heavy plan.

  8. Those all sound good! I plan our meals too… It makes shopping so much easier!

  9. That’s a really good menu you have going. How are your boys with the healthy lifestyle? Each meal sounds like it has some flavor to it so I would imagine they like it either way.
