On a “Roll”

Last week my mom was awesome enough to give me a sushi making kit! I LOVE sushi and have always wanted one. To celebrate and to test it out, I invited my Mom & Dad and my cousin over for dinner, Sunday. My cousin and I had a blast making sushi. We opted to play it safe with the ingredients. While I’ve had sushi a bazillion and one times, it was something new for my parents. They were wary so we went with simple (non-scary) ingredients – avocado, cream cheese, crab and cucumber.
Here are a few pictures from our sushi making adventure. If you’ve ever thought about making it yourself, I’d recommend it. It was not hard at all (my set came with a book) and the ingredients were all really easy to find – our local grocery store had them.
I really can’t believe I made sushi. In just two weeks I’ve gone from hating to cook, to creating meal plans and now to making sushi.

Thanks guys. It was so much fun. The rice was a little tricky, but we made it work. This would be a great thing to make for a small dinner party. Everyone could pick their ingredients, etc.

You just had to mention sushi. I have had a craving for sushi for a week. I was actually calling places around my job earlier seeing if someone would deliver me some sushi. I’m definitely gonna have some tomorrow, no matter what. I should try to make it at home.

Oh I LOVE sushi! Rich doesn’t like it much — neither does my dad so Mom and I go out for Sushi whenever I’m up there or she’s down here!
