Mouthwatering Monday – Biscuit Pizzas

Happy Mouthwatering Monday!  This week I’m sharing a simple and fast way to make pizzas that are sure to be a hit with your kids. We made these over the weekend and both boys loved the novelty of the miniature pizzas. In addition to being a quick fix, the mini pizzas can be made to suit the tastebuds of your tiny diners. So if someone likes just cheese, and someone else loves pepperoni – no problem!

INGREDIENTS:
1 tube of biscuits
1 package of shredded cheese
1 small jar of pizza sauce
Various pizza toppings

DIRECTIONS:
Remove the biscuits from the tube and role each one flat. Once flat, place in oven for 2-3 minutes to allow the dough to partially cook. Remove the dough from the oven and add your ingredients. We started with the sauce and cheese, then added toppings. Once topped, place pizzas back in the oven. They are ready when the cheese appears melted.

TOTAL TIME:
15 minutes

Swag Bucks 101

During the recent Cincinnati Women Bloggers meeting, one of the programs that Andrea (Mommy Snacks) mentioned during her presentation on affiliate marketing and blog monetization that intrigued me was Swag Bucks. Not sure what it was, I decided to check it out, and it’s actually pretty cool. It essentially pays you to search the internet – something I do all the time!

If you are not familiar, Swag Bucks is an online site where you earn ‘Bucks’ for using their search engine to perform your searches. The Bucks you earn are then redeemable for various prizes. It’s that simple.

Swag Bucks is open to the general public, and registration took me less than 3 minutes.

How you earn Swag Bucks:

1. SEARCH: Log in to Swag Bucks when you need to search the internet. They also have a Swag Bucks tool bar that you can install that makes it SUPER easy to do your searching with them.

2. SHOP: Next time you head online to do some shopping, check out the Swag Bucks SHOP. It’s tied to lots of great stores like Liz Claiborne & Macys (they even have coupons!) For every $5 you spend you’ll earn 1 Swag Buck.

3. TRADE IN: Have an old cell phone or MP3 player lying around? Any video games your children no longer play? You can trade them in and win beaucoup Swag Bucks.  The site shows the Swag value of a Motorola SLVR L7 as 44 Swag Bucks!

4. INVITE: Think you’re friends would be interested? Invite your friends to join and you can earn up to 100 Swag Bucks.

Prizes…..Are they worth it?

Prizes run the gamit from things for your kids to electronics and gift cards and they don’t require you to have ten bajillion points either. Some of the cool items I saw included:

  • Belkin Ipod Nano Silicon Case - 55 SB
  • Madden 2002 for the PSP, pre-used – 55 SB
  • Nora Roberts book, A little Magic – 100 SB
  • Various MP3 Singles – 15 SB

I am still in the early stages of checking it out, but so far it looks like a pretty cool program.  You can sign up for Swag Bucks, here.

PS. Swag Bucks is also on Twitter. If you sign up, you should def. follow them as they Tweet special opportunities to earn Swag Bucks!

Affiliate Marketing and You!

I’m back! After a 10+ day hiatus due to the “plague” I am feeling charged and ready to write.

This morning Cincinnati Women Bloggers hosted it’s monthly meeting at Bridge Worldwide downtown.  The topic was monetization and affiliate marketing and boy, did I learn a ton.  The presentation was given by Andrea of Mommy Snacks, a blogger I am happy to be able to call my friend.

I met Andrea right before heading down to BlissDom in Nashville this past February. It was at BlissDom that I had a chance to get to know her (and learned what a “big Deal” she is!).  During dinner one night Andrea and I started talking about blogging and that’s when I learned of her extensive knowledge of the affiliate marketing world. Right away I knew I had to convince her to present at a Cincinnati Women Bloggers meeting. Luckily, she agreed and our group had a great meeting as a result.

Among the things I learned:

  • There are a lot of sites out there offering a WIDE array of affiliate marketing opportunities. Andrea has a list on her blog, HERE.
  • If you look at the requirements for a particular affiliate marketing group and don’t quite make the cut, contact them directly. You may end up getting in if you are close.
  • Always remember to stay true to the voice of your blog!
  • Mom Bloggers Club has a great post on selling ads on your blog
  • There is a service called Swag Bucks that pays you to do searches!

Since I am one of the organizers of Cincy Women Bloggers I didn’t have a chance to take a ton of notes, but if you are looking for a source for information on affiliate marketing, Andrea did a great recap post with overviews and links to various programs, HERE, on her blog. Also, my friend Debba with Girlfriendology recapped it on her blog, HERE and my friend Andrea from Udandi and the Craft of Money recapped it HERE.
