Words You’d Never Expect to Hear from Your Child

Tonight my son asked me something I think every blogging Mom longs (or dreads) to hear, “Mom, Can I write a blog post on Mommy Bits?”

I wanted to fall over. I was just so surprised to hear those words come out of my 6 year old’s mouth.

So stay tuned and watch for his post. He’s super excited about it and he’s already shared with me what he wants to write about and spent the evening taking pictures to go with!

Mommy Bits on Blog Talk Radio

This afternoon I had the pleasure of being a guest on Tapping the Power of Social Media, a show on BlogTalk Radio.  I spoke with Host Mike Boehmer about my experiences with social media – being a parenting blogger, launching Cincinnati Women Bloggers and how it’s played a role in my life.

Want to hear what I had to say? You can check out the show, here.

A PDA for 3 Year Olds? Huh

This morning I was shocked to see the ad below in an email from Leap Frog – an ad for the company’s new Text and Learn. If you haven’t heard of it, the Text and Learn is a “PDA” for kids ages 3-5, complete with QWERTY keyboard.

I have a problem with this. While I understand that it is educational – and studies show that kids play on their parents phones, why are we trying to hook kids (so young) on the “crackberry”? Call me old fashioned.

I don’t know what to think. I did some Googling and most reviewers seem fine with the concept.  For me, this is one Leap Frog product I won’t be buying for my 3 year old.

Here’s the ad. What do you think? Am I over reacting?

Here’s what other blogs have had to say about the Text and Learn

BlogHer Bound? Join us for Lunch

This just in…. Amy in Ohio is once again organizing a pre-conference lunch.

From Amy:

The Pre-Blogher luncheon is planned. A Facebook page (my first, feel the coolness) will be the go-to place for RSVPs and details.  No invitation needed, all are welcome for a little Pre-Blogher mingling so tell all your friends – especially the ones prone to buying a round for the rest of us, cause dooode it’s on like donkey kong: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=85582328374 RSVP so I can give the restaurant a rough count, but come and go when you can as you arrive into town.
