Yesterday I ventured out during my lunch hour to Fountain Square to check out T-Shirt Fest. A fun event, it was an opportunity to see/purchase cool locally themed, locally produced T-shirts.
One of my favorite local companies – Park + Vine – was there selling T-shirts and I was able to pick up a very special one – a Cincinnati Streetcar Tshirt. The shirt was produced by local streetcar supporters and the funds raised through their sale ($15) goes right back to their streetcar efforts.
As a parent who often takes her children downtown, I am very excited about getting streetcars in Cincinnati. How great will it be not to have to pack the kids back in the car, find a new parking garage, unload, etc. for every place I need to go? When the streetcars are in place I’ll be able to park once, and then zip all around downtown with the boys. Without ever having to get in my car, I’ll be able to stop by TJ Maxx at Tower Place, then head over to Fountain Square for some fun (there are always events there on the weekend) perhaps then ride up to It’s Just Crepes on Court Street for lunch, then to Findlay Market to pick up produce and donate to the Juggler’s college fund, then ride back to the garage where my car is parked to head home.
Disclosure: I should note that the company I work for is part of the Cincinnati Streetcar Development Partners. It should be known, and is known by many, that I have been a supporter of Streetcars in Cincinnati for several years. That little orange badge on my right sidebar that says “Ths blog supports Cincinnati Streetcars” has been there forever.
I hope the streetcars succeed; honestly, I hope The Banks succeeds and Cincy as a thriving, gotta-go-see downtown succeeds. We have a great city with great people.
