Newport Pizza Company

Tonight my husband and I were both in the mood for pizza, but none of the “regular places” sounded good to us.  On the verge of giving up, I remembered a post I’d read on my friend Julie’s blog about a new place in Newport, KY called Newport Pizza Company.

I jumped onto the laptop and looked up Julie’s post to confirm my recollection and then we were on our way to check it out for ourselves.

Let me just say that this is not your ordinary pizza place. It’s more like pizza heaven (I am not kidding, I totally thought I heard angels singing when I bit into our pizza!).

The menu includes appetizers like Fried Mozzarella (which we ate), Antipasti Basket, Asiago Spinach Dip and Boneless Wings.  For the main attraction – pizza – the menu takes it up a notch, and while you have your traditional pepperoni and BBQ Chicken type pizzas, they also have specialty pizzas like the Zeus (fresh baby spinach, feta cheese, Roma tomatoes, roasted garlic, olive oil, and asiago cheese) and the Lotsa Mozza and Roma (Mesh mozzarella, Roma tomatoes, fresh basil, garlic and olive oil). Also on the menu are salads and sandwiches.

The dessert menu, while pretty simple, contains perhaps the most amazing thing I have ever scarfed down tasted- a stuffed apple calzone. That’s right people, baked apples and cinnamon topped with vanilla bean ice cream! It should be illegal (I think I am still on a high from dinner…).

For our first visit, my family - which consisted of myself, my husband, our two boys and my father – ordered Fried Mozzarella as our appetizer, The Zeus (16″), a half cheese/half pepperoni (16″) for the boys, and then two stuffed apple calzones for dessert.

I have not one bad thing to say about this meal other than I was disappointed when it was over. Seriously, half way through dinner my husband and I were already plotting how we could dash over for lunch during the work week. It was that good.

I can’t tell you how awesome it is to have found The Newport Pizza Company. It was warm and welcoming for our family (they even have a Ms. Pac Man/Galactica games) the service was great, and the food was really good.  If your family is looking for a pizza place to call their own, I’d definitely add the Newport Pizza Company to your list of places to check out.

NPC rocks! Great pizza and a nice beer selection as well. And for those of us who have other sporting interests beyond baseball, they even had their TV’s tuned to the Tour de France when i was there!

Newport Pizza Company is just unreal. I am a pizza fanatic…and I was just blown away by this place. Even their basic cheese pizza is absolutely amazing! The cheese is just perfection!! I tried the fried mozzarella and I was shocked…it was actual real mozzarella balls…not just those frozen sticks you find in most places. These are real fresh, soft mozzarella balls lightly dusted with flour and whatnot and fried crisp on the outside and so soft and yummy on the inside. You must try this! Their prices are very reasonable…especially for the quality of food that you get! Get over to Newport Pizza Company…you’ll thank me!
