Newport Ride the Ducks

Sunday my family met up with Amy in Ohio’s for a little fun down at Newport on the Levee. We were excited to check out the Levee’s Ride the Ducks attraction after having read about my friend Phyllis’s experience last week.

Ride the Ducks is a sightseeing tour of Cincinnati/northern Kentucky in a vehicle that can go on both land and water. The tour is about an hour in length and runs throughout the day (NOTE: The tours fill up fast). We first tried to ride on Saturday, but when we went to buy tickets for the 3:00pm ride, they were sold out until 6:00 p.m.  Too long to wait, we decided to come back on Sunday.  To keep this from happening again, we went online and ordered our tickets in advance!  It included a small processing fee, but it was totally worth it to not have to head down so far in advance, plus it was nice to park – then go straight to the line to wait for the Duck to arrive.

During the ride the captain and the tour guide share tidbits about our city and keep you engaged with jokes and family friendly humor. At one point in the tour they invite kids up to “drive” the boat. This was probably SM’s favorite part of the day! He thought he was so cool!

Tickets for Ride the Duck can be purchased at the Levee in front of Newport Aquarium (or online about 2 hours prior to the time you’d like to ride). Adults are $15, children are $11 and under 2 are free.
