Tackling the Pantry: Auditioning for A&E’s Hoarders

This weekend the husband and I decided to take on what we thought was a ‘little’ project, painting our pantry closet. Unfortunately, what we thought would take 2-3 hours, ended up taking 3 coats of paint, 6 rolls of shelf-liner, about half our sanity and 2 full days.

These are photos of what our kitchen looked like all weekend.  It was so overwhelming.  If you know me, you know that I cannot handle having stuff out all over the place. It was so hard to do anything and cooking was pretty much out of the question.  I think if the producers from Hoarders would have seen it they just might have been calling…..

UPDATE: My friend Andi asked to see pictures of the newly organized and no-longer overwhelming pantry.  Props to my husband Marty for doing 98% of the painting.  I had it easy – was in charge of the organizing.

  1. no fun! and hoarders.. gotta love that show.. : )
good organization! BLEH.. WANNA COME DO IT AT OUR HOUSE?

  2. Rachel- It was so overwhelming having all that food out. Felt like I was going to hyperventilate every time I sent in the kitchen!

Amie – We will see how long it lasts… with 5 people in our house there’s no telling how it will look a week from now!

  3. At least you know that you survived the potential heart attack you could’ve gotten from seeing all of that out all over the place….AND you guys obviously aren’t going to be starving any time soon! Hehe. Looks great. :)

  4. Shannan – It looks great! And I’m right there with you w/the Hoarders audition…my dining room has been collecting crap for the past few months and I am about to go nuts.
