oh it isn’t your fault! He has had invaluable time to spend with you and the boys. he will find work again, and in the meantime he has family to support him. everything happens for a reason and one door closes another opens.

Oh Shannan, this breaks my heart. I bet if you asked your Mom and Dad about the move, they wouldn’t trade the last four years with the kids for any job!

I just keep telling myself that everything happens for a reason and unfortunately, God is on HIS timeline when it comes to letting us know the reason.

But this too shall pass…love you and you are in my prayers.

The Census is hiring – they had a big ad in the Sunday Enquirer. People w/a variety of backgrounds have been hired; they had a long piece on it on TV a couple of weeks back.

Shannan,
I am sorry to hear about your dad. I understand how difficult this situation is. You and I have met before through the NKY Chamber PR Committee, and I work for the one-stop job center in Hamilton County. I looked at your dad’s resume and think it looks great. My only suggestion would be for him to consider taking off the work history that preceeds 1992. Employers generally only need to see the most recent 10 years of work history; anything else would not be a crucial element and would only serve to give away his age. I will keep my eye out for good job leads for him. He’s got a good skill set.

I’m sorry to hear about your dad. I will send him some good energy and prayers that he find the perfect job in his field very, very soon. I know what it’s like to be shocked–when my husband lost his job last May, I was completely blindsided. My husband is a great employee, and I just couldn’t understand it.

But Shannan, please remember this: your dad loves you and your family. If he’d wanted something different, he wouldn’t have moved to the Cincinnati area to be near you. Don’t feel guilty. He WILL find something in this area that is better suited to him, and it will be better for you all.

I am lifting your dad and family up in prayer. This is a challenging time for so many when it comes to employment. I will look at the resume and see if I can not pass some names on to you to share with him. I know a few HR directors who have contacts.
