Can We Just Start This Day Over?

And the Fridge Goes DownFrom the moment I woke up this morning, the day has been headed in the wrong direction. If it wasn’t one thing, it was another.

1) With Daylight Savings Time occurring over the weekend, the boys were not tired at bedtime, and thus took forever to fall asleep. Likewise they were not excited to wake up “an hour earlier” to get ready for school this morning either. As a matter of fact, whatever the word is, that is the most extreme opposite of excited is what they were. In the end we barely made it to the bus stop on time and no one brushed their teeth this a.m. either (sorry Grandma and bus driver George!).

2) Over the weekend the refrigerator went out.  Out of the blue it stopped refrigerating and freezing. Today I spent the entire morning chatting with Frigidaire and with local “approved” repair companies.  Luckily the refrigerator is under warranty, unfortunately the repair company can’t get here until Wednesday (and let’s not talk about the repair company that wanted to charge me $85 just to come out… PASS).  A big thank you to my MIL for letting use her deep freezer, to my parents for lending us their coolers and to my future cousin-in-law for letting me borrow her mini-fridge so we could at least have quick access to milk, cheese and of course coffee creamer.

3) While I was out buying ice for the coolers, my MIL calls to tell me that the dryer has stopped…. drying. Yes you heard me right. Not only is the refrigerator on the fritz, now apparently the dryer is too. SHOOT ME.  Hold tight, cause at least number 3 has a happy ending.  When my father dropped off the coolers I had him come in and look at the dryer.  Turns out the “no heat” button had been pressed.  I know…. I know…

At this point it is 3pm and I am just going to hunker down and hope for the best.  Don’t even want to know what else could go wrong today.

  1. I feel ya with the refrigerator thing. Mine broke in the midst of a heat wave with lots of bags of breastmilk inside. The approved repair company wouldn’t come for a week so I invalidated my warranty and called someone who could that day.

  2. Ahhh….I can totally relate. I ended up sleeping in my youngest room that night since both girls and the dog decided they wanted to be in our bed and I need SPACE….my husband leaves for work – doesn’t wake me up and when I wake up, my girls are zonked and it’s 5 mins before the bus comes. Obviously we didn’t make the bus. Then it was rush, rush, rush to get to school on time. I called my husband to ask why he didn’t wake me up, his reply “I had the alarm on for you”….but I wasn’t in the room with the alarm…..Ugh!

At least the dryer ended up being ok. :)
