As many of you know, back in June I left the “Agency World” to go to The Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center in Covington. For those of you not familiar – The Carnegie is the largest multidisciplinary arts organization in Northern Kentucky and it’s home to six art galleries, a 400+ seat theatre and a children’s arts education center.
I wanted to take a moment to just make sure you were aware of our upcoming production of Rodger and Hammerstein’s musical, CAROUSEL. If you know this show, you know how wonderful it is —> it was named “Best Musical of The Century” by TIME Magazine.
CAROUSEL will be playing at The Carnegie weekends April 1-17 and tickets are really affordable, at just $19-$28 dollars. It’s being directed by NKU’s Mark Hardy, who is a veteran of the Broadway stage and by Carmon DeLeone who is with Cincinnati Ballet. On top of that the show includes a seventeen-piece orchestra and the lead actor is a GRAMMY nominated performer.
I wanted to share with you a video we produced just to give you a little bit of an idea how AMAZING it’s going to be. If you are interested, you can find more information on The Carnegie’s website, or call (859) 957-1940 to purchase tickets.
Today the boys and I, along with my Mom, headed down to US Bank Arena for Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey’s Circus. The theme of this year’s show was FUNundrum, and boy was it fun. The boys were on the edge of their seats the entire time. From the amazing tight rope walkers to the seven (that’s right, seven) motorcyclists riding at top speeds in a giant steel cage, our jaws were constantly dropped in disbelief. It was amazing.
We of course snapped tons of photos (well, My Mom did, I some how forgot my camera!!):
I’d like to thank the kind people with FELD Entertainment for giving me the 4-pack of tickets to see the show. It’s something the boys and I will be talking about for a long time. If you haven’t had a chance to see FUNundrum yet, there’s still time. Shows resume on Wednesday and run through next Sunday night. You can find show times and ticket information, here.
Today I did what I have been putting off for months. Something none of us enjoys doing……I went through my closet and picked out the items I’ve A) Out grown B) Stopped wearing.
While I was dreading doing it, and while it took me over an hour, I must say it felt awesome. There was so much in there I hadn’t worn in years. I found a t-shirt I bought in high school, a sweater I remember buying in my early 20′s and a suit I had purchased for my first “real” job out of college. Now, I am 35 years old so my college days are quite a few years behind me.
At the end of the day, I filled up this giant box and two large bags with items. I’ll be taking all of these clothes to Goodwill tomorrow and hopefully someone else will have a chance to enjoy them.
Now…. how to find a good use for all these newly available hangers Perhaps Jenny from Mommin’ It Up can help me??
Contest Closed: Congratulations to reader Stacey Karlosky!! Your name was drawn as the winner of the family 4-pack of tickets. Check your inbox for an email!!!
It’s no secret that my boys and I love the circus. We go every year. It’s a tradition.
So why do I mention this? Well Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus returns to Cincinnati on March 11 with FUNundrum, it’s exciting new show featuring more than 130 performers from around the globe. Organizers with the circus recently contacted me and offered me a family 4-pack of tickets to giveaway to one lucky Mommy Bits reader – awesome right!
So first, what’s this new show about? I’ll tell you (what they told me):
“Step right up and see the Flying Caceres attempt to complete the elusive quadruple somersault on the flying trapeze; a feat that hasn’t been mastered in over three decades. Watch the Puyang troupe from China dazzle with a stunning display of dexterity as they bounce, flip, and twirl to new heights on a two-tiered trampoline. Be amazed as you witness the impossible contortions of the body benders who fit three humans in a cube the size of a milk crate. Enjoy the wondrous ability of the Mighty Meetal, the strongest man in the world, as he lifts over 1,200 pounds. And savor the stupendous skills of the hand balancers featuring Duo Fusion, a married pair of performers with a twist; the wife does the heavy lifting.”
Because I am a visual kind of gal, here’s a video I found on Ringling’s YouTube page. I don’t know about you, but I think this show looks like it might be the best one yet.
