Inspired by my 7 yr old, this year I am attempting to grow and nurture a garden. Knowing my limitations (and the massive number of household plants I’ve failed to keep a live), I am starting small with just a few items – some from seeds and some from actual plants.

This is the bizarre little garden spot on the side of our house. The former owner created it as an option to hide the steps (buried inside of the walls) that lead up to what used to be a door to our kitchen.

I bought these great hand made plant markers at Spring Pottery Fair (Client).  Here I have planted mixed bell pepper seeds. Cross your fingers ;-)

Not wanting to completely put my faith in seeds, I planted a few tomato plants that were started by the kind people at the plant store.

My 7yr old LOVES the smell of Lavender so “what the heck!” We’ll give it a try.

This purple basil plant was given to us by my mother. It smells amazing and I can’t wait to cook with it (OK… for Marty to cook with it) this summer.

If you have any tips or tricks for keeping this garden headed in the right direction, bring ‘em on. I can use all the help I can get.
