Discovering My Style

Sometimes as a blogger you get to do some pretty fun things.  Recently, that meant being invited to meet with Lee Krombholz of Krombholz Jewelers and create my own jewelry style case in his store.

Now, I am the first to admit that I wouldn’t think of myself as stylish or fashion forward, but as I met with Lee and we talked, I realized that I do have a fashion sense. It’s just more “Classic” in nature.

In addition to creating the case, Lee interviewed me for his blog about my fashion & style inspirations.  You can check it out, here.   There are also several other local bloggers working with Lee including my friends Julie Niesen (Wine Me Dine Me, Cincinnati), Tamia Stinson (The Style Sample) and Andrea Deckard (Savings Lifestyle), so be sure to check his blog each month to read their fashion tips and inspirations.

Review: Toydozer

What you are seeing here is a snapshot of a typical evening at our house.  It’s how the boys unwind. They could spend hours creating and recreating things with their LEGOS (and they do). It’s also something I love, because it means they are using their imaginations, not vegging out watching a Cartoon Network show or asking to play games on the iPad. It’s just good ole’ fashioned fun.

While I love that they are using their imaginations and playing (nicely) together, what I don’t love, is picking up the bajillions of LEGOS at the end of the night.  Trying to scoop them up and get them back in the bucket can be a hassle, especially with the smaller LEGO pieces. It’s not that it’s hard, it’s just time consuming. I have written about the boys love for LEGOS before, so it was great when the people with Toydozer reached out and asked if I wanted to give their product a “test drive.”

First let me say, I love it when people come up with simple solutions for ‘pain in the butt’ problems. Case in point –>The Toydozer.  It seems so simple but yet it’s so great, because it does exactly what you want it to do – it makes it EASY to scoop up and put away the LEGOS (faster that ever before…..).  The Toydozer comes with two parts –a “gatherer” and a “scoop.” It’s that simple.

From the Toydozer Website: It’s not a complex product by any means – but that’s the beauty of the Toydozer. It’s simple, it’s sturdy, and best of all, it works. Lego®, Duplo®, Polly Pocket®, Squinkies®, Matchbox® Cars, blocks, trains, safari animals, puzzle pieces- whatever’s all over the floor- gets picked up quickly and easily.  With the Toydozer, you and your kids will be able to spend less time cleaning and MORE TIME PLAYING!!

In testing it out I enlisted the boys’ help. I mean, the Toydozer makes it easy enough that they shouldn’t need my help at all!  Thankfully the folks at Toydozer sent me more than one – so they both could participate in the clean up……

The Toydozer runs for $18.99 and is available for purchase online in blue, yellow and purple. Each piece is durable and lightweight, and most importantly, easy for kids to use. If you are looking for a simple, easy solution to help make toy pickup go quicker, a Toydozer is the way to go. Let me add too that it works with more than just LEGOS. Since receiving mine in the mail I have used it to clean up Beyblades, Bakugans, Hexbugs and even marbles!   Learn more about Toydozer on on Facebook or Twitter.

Big Changes ‘Round Here

With the recent attack on the blog by spammers, I’ve definitely gotten behind here on MommyBits.  Probably the biggest news I’ve been wanting to share is that I stepped down from my job as a Communications Manager with a local arts organization and started my own public relations and social media consulting business!

While I  loved my job (and especially my co-workers), I really wanted to get back to my roots and focus on my two favorite aspects of communications – media relations and social media.

So, over the course of a few weeks I started planning it all out and on April 1st I made the big jump and launched Scooter Media Consulting. I set up a website, I launched a blog about social media and public relations, I created my social media presence on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest, I updated all my personal accounts, and last but not least, my multi- talented husband created a logo for me (cute, right).

It’s been a little crazy, to say the least, but things are starting to fall in to place. I’ve rented an office down in MainStrasse Village and I have even signed on some clients.

More to come, I am sure. In the meantime, if you want to check in on me, just head over and “Like” the Scooter Media Facebook Page.

Hack Attack

Just a quick note to apologize for my recent absence.  Mommy Bits was HACKED not once, but twice! Needless to say I’ve been working to bring it back to life and hope to be full steam ahead shortly.
