This Wednesday I have the pleasure of attending the YWCA Salute to Career Women of Achievement as one of the guests at the Media/Blogger table. This annual event (which has grown to be the largest sit-down dinner of its kind!) started in 1980 “as a way to increase community awareness and appreciation of the diverse contributions of women in the work force and in the community. Over time the luncheon has evolved into the YWCA’s largest fundraising event with all proceeds directly benefiting YWCA programs, supporting its mission to eliminate racism and empower women.” Being a female entrepreneur myself, having started Scooter Media a little over a year ago, I am particularly excited to have been asked to be involved with this event. I believe that we all need to support each other in our efforts to achieve our dreams, and the YWCA’s event, is

This morning I had the privilege of attending a blogger tour of The Santa’s Workshop featuring the Shillito’s Elves at Newport on the Levee. For many Cincinnatians, the Shillito’s Elves are a big part of their childhood holiday memories. The Santa Workshop was born in December of 1979 and brightened the holidays in Downtown Cincinnati for many years. After a long time in retirement, they have been brought back for new generations to enjoy. Here are some of the photos I snapped while I was there. This is just a “hint” of what you can see (and you should go see it). The Santa Workshop as well as the Ohio Indiana Kentucky Lego Users Group’s Lego Train display are open through December 23rd. Tickets can be purchased in advance by visiting www.shillitoselves.com.

Giveaway closed. Congrats to MommyBits Reader, Amy S! Last year the boys and I started a tradition of going to Brazee Street Studios in Oakley and making our own glass ornaments and it’s become one of our favorite things to do. The class we take is part of Brazee’s Family Open Houses series which runs from 10am – 1pm throughout the year on Saturdays, with the theme changing each month. For November & December, it’s holiday ornament making (see our work to the right –>). In addition to the Open House classes, Brazee Street Studios offers TONS of glass classes for both children and adults and even offers glass blowing classes. Several friends and I did a private class last fall where we made glass picture frames. Upcoming classes scheduled throughout November and December include “Make + Bake” sessions

So if you read my other blog, Family Friendly Cincinnati, you know that I was recently invited by Whole Foods Cincinnati to participate in the Whole Foods Meal Planning Challenge. In a nutshell, Whole Foods challenged me to feed my family of four for a whole week on food I purchased at Whole Foods. The challenge portion? By using meal planning, shopping store deals and using store coupons, do this on just $100. Learn about the challenge and check out all my money saving Whole Foods shopping tips. One of the meals we made during the week was pizza. Whole Foods has a great store brand called 365 Everyday Value. For the pizzas we picked up 365 brand ready made crusts (came two to a pack), a can of 365 black beans, some 365 shredded cheese and a jar of Enrico’s all
