So tonight for dinner Marty & I decided to tackle some of the leftovers from the holidays. Among them was Marty’s delicious white chicken chili.  Too spicy for the children, I found a can of Campbell’s Tomato Bisque in the cupboard that my Mother-in-law had purchased and decided to make it for the boys.

Now, let it be known that I have never had Tomato Bisque soup before. This is important for you to understand before you read the following…..

So I make the soup, along with some tortilla’s for dipping and we all sit down to eat. Marty and I devour our bowls of soup, but the boys avoid theirs like the plague. For the next 5-10 minutes I work on convincing the boys to eat their soup.  ”It’s yummy.” I tell them. “Just like regular tomato soup, only creamy.”  They want to believe me, I can tell, but after one small taste my oldest drops his spoon like’s it’s on fire.

Finally, noticing that my coaxing is not working, I grab the B-Man’s spoon and say, “see, look at Mommy eat it, it’s delicious!” and before I can get the words out, my tastebuds send a furious message to my brain — Abort! Abort!

That’s right people. The soup was DISGUSTING.  I felt like a horrible monster. Like the worst Mom EVER. Here I was thinking it tasted like good old fashioned tomato soup, trying to make the boys eat it when in fact it tasted disgusting!

All I can say is I am sorry…. and you can bet we won’t be eating the other two cans I found in the cupboard.
