Riding Off Into The Sunset

Some of you may recall that at the end of last summer SM was just learning how to ride a bike.  Well this weekend he attempted to get back on the bike, and he rocked it.  It was as if he had never stopped riding. It was a proud moment for him and for my husband and I.

While it was obvious how excited he was to be riding again and how proud he was that he could do it without training wheels, I was surprised at how emotional it was for me.  I didn’t expect to get all teary-eyed as he rode up and down the street or to have all the visions of him riding off into the sunset.  It was strangely overwhelming.

These days it seems as if my “little boy” is growing up so fast.  Its so wonderful seeing him develop into a young man, watching him gain confidence and independance but man my emotions are killing me!

My Baby’s Not a Baby Anymore

Today my oldest turns 7. I can’t believe it. Today’s the day that change our lives forever. Today is the day that taught me about unconditional love. Today is the day that a little boy rocked my world and wrapped me around his finger.

I can’t believe 7 years have gone by already. It’s gone so fast. He’s so independent. He’s so smart. He’s so funny.

I’m so proud of him.

Happy Birthday SM!

Gaining Independence and Growing Up

This weekend while camping SM passed a major milestone – He learned how to ride his bike without training wheels!!

The motivation to loose the training wheels started Saturday morning. SM was riding his bike along the drive in front of our campsite while I was making breakfast. After a few minutes SM rode up with tears in his eyes. Apparently a girl – probably 9 or 10 – a few sites down had said something about him having training wheels on his bike when he rode by. It made him feel embarrassed (he is pretty sensitive). It was then and there – for the first time – that SM told me he thought it would be a good idea to try to ride without them.

I talked to The Husband about the situation and he took over. Within just a few minutes the training wheels were off and they were working up a sweat practicing.

Last night when we got home, SM made the leap and rode on his own. Check it out!

Nothing compares with the simple pleasure of a bike ride.

Just Call Him the Potty Master

Big news here at the Boyer household……

The B-Man has MASTERED THE POTTY! That’s right people. My youngest child, my little angel, has managed to go potty on the big boy potty consistently- for the past week and a half.
NO MORE DIAPERS!!! I can’t even believe it. It took SM forever to ween off Pull-ups and transition to underwear. The B-Man just got it. Just two weeks of Pull-ups and then he was ready. All of the sudden, one day he requested big boy underwear and since then, aside from a quick fall in the toilet, it’s been great.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to make myself a cocktail to celebrate.
