So, So, Random

DSC00685I think I have writers block. I can’t think of anything I want to write about.

To pass the time ’til my drive to write returns, here are some random updates.

  • The boys are fine. Soccer started again last week. Sports of All Sorts off Mt. Zion Road officially sucks and is now charging parents & guests $2 to watch their children to play soccer. Needless to say this will be our last session at Sports of All Sorts.
  • I had my first disagreement with someone in the social media space this week. It sucked. Makes me question everything. I am the least confrontational person in the world.
  • Still not as involved in SM’s school as much as I’d like. I haven’t been able to volunteer in the classroom yet and it makes me sad. I really want to get involved.
  • My brother moved up from Dallas. He’s doing really well and I am loving having him here. It’s been 15 years since we lived near each other.
  • My cousin got engaged to a girl I adore.
  • Work is going really well but I am having a hard time adjusting to the 4-day work schedule.
  • I just got back from an amazing trip to Nashville where I met my BFF’s 6-wk old daughter for the first time. She’s gorgeous and my friend is rocking it as a new Mom.
  • I “cheated” on my hair dresser of 8 years with another stylist at her salon and loved the hair cut he gave me. She called me this week to say she’s moved to a new salon and I am thinking about stAglamesis Brothersaying at the old salon with the guy I “cheated” on her with. I am a horrible client.
  • I finally took the boys to Aglamesis Brothers in Oakley Square for ice cream. It was the most amazing ice cream we’d ever tasted. I can’t believe we haven’t been there sooner. Run. Don’t walk. http://ow.ly/CLBj

I’m a Soccer Mom

Now that fall is here, both SM and the Bman are playing indoor soccer out at Sports of all Sorts.

What’s great about this is that this will be the first time that the Bman is old enough to play on a real team — and he is beyond thrilled. Before now, because of his age, the only thing we’d been able to find for him were drill classes, which were fun, but “not like what SM does.”

It’s great to see them bonding over soccer and sharing a common interest. Lately their age difference has been starting to become evident and it’s nice to have something that they can connect on.

If you are looking to get your child enrolled in sports, I’d recommend checking out Sports of All Sorts. They’ve got soccer, basketball, cheer leading, Flag football and more. They have programs for kids as young as age three. Here’s a link to their registration page with more details.

Getting Bigger Every Day

Last week the B-Man started soccer.  Ever since his brother started playing last year he’s been dying to get out on the field and play too. Until now he’d been too young.

We put him in the Little Kickers program out at Sports of All Sorts.  The program teaches kids the basics of soccer plus helps them develop hand – eye coordination. Being that it was his first game, everyone came -Mom, Dad, Grandma and Grandpa – it was a big day. B-man was so excited he could barely contain himself.  Watching him out on the field I could see him growing up right before my eyes.  He was so confident and was listening and following every direction that came out of the coaches mouth.  He was becoming a “big kid.”

Of course I was the Mama- ratzi, snapping pictures left and right of B-man in action.   Here are a few of my favorites:

I think he looks adorable in his soccer gear.

Here he is lined up and listening to coach John.

The program requires that parents play along with the kids. I let Marty take the first turn.

Brady glowing at the end of the class. He was on cloud nine!

Another Busy Weekend

Wow. Another busy, fun and adventure filled Saturday at our house.

We started off the day watching SM play his final soccer game of the spring session. He really has come along way since he started playing four months ago. Soccer has been huge in helping him with his confidence, with his listening and attention span, and even with his coordination. He’s made several good friends and I’m excited that he’ll be playing with them again in the fall. After Soccer we headed to a play land for the birthday party I mentioned previously. We actually ended up arriving at the party about an hour and a half after it had started because of the soccer game. I’d checked with the little boys mother about arriving late and she said it worked since she’d probably be there later than scheduled and she was right. She and I ended up chit chatting while the boys played for an extra 2 hours after the party had officially ended.

From there we came home and prepped for a picnic at the local park. After eating we played on the playground for a while and then headed down the hill to play in the field directly behind the swing set.

After getting further down into the field my husband found a honey suckle bush (bush or tree??) and taught the boys how to properly taste the “honey” inside.

After about 20 minutes of that (good thing the flowers only contain a small drop of honey) we headed off for a little hike through the woods.

Needless to say, a good time was had by all and everyone should sleep well tonight. Tomorrow: We celebrate the B-Man’s birthday. The big T-H-R-E-E!
